I refer of course to the St. Joseph Baltimore Catechism. It is amazing how enjoyable it is even as an adult. In fact I gave Fric one last week since he did not grow up Catholic and had never been exposed to it. Much to my delight he tells me that his young daughter has seen it and is pretty much devouring the material with gusto. For those who may not be familiar with the book it was used pretty much across the board when I was studying to make my first communion way back when which is about 30 years ago. I was delighted to find that it is still being published but seldom used these days. I think this is something that we need to start giving to our children again to help instill the basics of their Catholic faith in ways that they can understand. There was actually a set of three books one for first communion, one for 3,4,5 grades and one for 6,7,8.They are also very affordable. Only around $3.00 a book.
Lets revive the use of these great teaching books folks.
